Weekend Projects!

Aug 1, 2011
With some time off from work and the temps still reaching over 100, I upped my projects for the weekend and got busy!
This weekend I made a manniquin bear so that when I make the bear dresses to sell later at the craft shows I'd have one to use and test. So Ben cut the rod and a base for me. Then I painted it vintagey with black and crackle paint! I made the bear and put it all together...ta da a manniquin bear!

After that, I starting cleaning and had found a pillowcase I had bought at Goodwill earlier this spring.

I was inspired by some fabric I had seen on Etsy that had bicycles on it so I knew it would be cool! I cut out the bag and started piecing it together. I didn't have enough bicycle fabric to do the straps and side, so I found some red fabric over at Wal-Mart. And of course I had to add my own touch with extra pockets and some trim!
Much to Hershey's dismay, I made too much noise in the craft room during her naptime sewing it up.
But I got it done in no time and when I was taking pictures to share, I even noticed that  the laptop fits! Not bad for an old pillowcase...how's that for upcycling and being green?! :)

With the temperatures rising here in Southern Missouri, I am back to my machine...I'm sure it has been feeling neglected!
I decided this weekend to start getting ready for the Fall shows I plan on attending. I'm an apron kinda girl, so after shopping on Etsy I found a pattern for a vendor's apron...this would work great for waitresses too! I found the pattern at Originals by Lauren (Thanks Lauren), purchased some fabric and found some trim in my collection of craft room goodies!

After a few cups of coffee, I got out the ironing board and scissors and got to work!

I measured out the pieces, pinned it all into place and  ta da! I have a finished apron ready for the shows!

And if you know me, you'll know that I love Mary Engelbreit! So of course I had to use some of her fabric for my apron! (this may reappear later as a scrub for work!)

Princess cat worked really hard supervising and making sure I got everything cut out right!

While I had everything out I decided to get some bears and bunnies cut too...now to get them all together!

Stay tuned for more weekend projects!
